General Purpose:To maintain the cleanliness of guest hallways, stairways, vending areas, and storerooms and to facilitate hotel and guestroom cleaning by emptying Room Attendant trash and dirty linens and supplying clean linens and amenities to Room Attendant as needed.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Replenishes linens on carts and assists with replacement of shower curtains, bathrobes, bottled water and other room amenities. Empties trash and dirty linen from housekeeper carts on a continual basis during the shift. Collects recycled newspapers from guest floors and transports them to recycling bin Assists in moving housekeeping carts from storerooms to assigned floors before the shift begins on a rotating basis. Transports all trash to outside receptacles. Deposits dirty linen in laundry chute. Strips bed linen from vacant rooms. Delivers and remove cots, baby cribs, refrigerators, etc. from guest floors as needed. Maintains supplies in housekeeping cage Cleans and organizes assigned storerooms. Maintains all cleaning equipment in good working condition. Collaborates in maintaining the hotel’s preparation and readiness for official Sheraton Inspection and Public Health inspections. Collaborates in periodic guestroom renovations and redecoration by removing and moving mattresses, box springs, furniture, lamps and other furnishings. Performs other cleaning functions as directed by Housekeeping management. Clean all assigned public areas within the property as needed. Minimum Requirements: 6 months Houseman or cleaning experience or equivalent ( Preferred) Ability to communicate clearly with housekeepers and supervisors and cooperate in a team effort to clean guestrooms. Ability to follow instructions and work independently Ability to balance many tasks and prioritize in importance. Ability to read basic instructions or communications in Spanish or English Ability to follow through with work checklists and work order reports of problems. Availability to work weekends and holidays Ability to adhere to Sheraton Imperial grooming standards – Hair keeps shorter than the collar, and no facial hair. Working conditions: Typically bends, stoops, moves, lifts squats and walks constantly during the shift to perform cleaning tasks. Must be able to stand and perform cleaning tasks for up to 9 hours at a time. Must lift up to 100 lbs. very frequently during the shift. Requires visual acuity to be able to clean thoroughly and maintain cleanliness and manual dexterity to perform cleaning tasks. Most work is performed indoors. Outdoor trash pickup and transporting trash and recycled newspapers to outside bins is required. Works regularly with cleaning and disinfecting chemicals.
